The Hole
April 11 - April 14, 2024
The Hole is proud to announce our return to Expo Chicago. This year we present a two-person booth by Hunter Amos and Joseph Parra. The pairing features two exciting new emerging artists who were both featured in our recent group show Horripilation on the Bowery. Both painters refute the standard flatness of the canvas and work sculpturally: Parra squeezes from the paint tube with pointillistic precision to create seductive silhouettes while Amos utilizes cement, plastic and sand to form raw and personal figures. Find our concrete-clad booth in the EXPOSURE section at booth 126.
Joseph Parra (b. 1990, West Palm Beach, FL) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Parra's sculptural paintings distort the idealized male physique, creating topographical bodies that evoke the liquidity of queer histories. Parra received his MFA from Hunter College, New York, and his BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore along with attending Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Madison. Recent solo shows include the edge of flesh and blood, Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ and TechNoir, ASHES/ASHES, New York. His work has been shown in numerous galleries across the country including The Hole, New York, and Abigail Ogilvy Gallery, Los Angeles.
